Three teams from the CVC remain strong in this week's AVCA Division III Men's Volleyball Poll. For the third consecutive week Juniata College, Southern Virginia University, and Rutgers University-Newark are ranked in the poll.
After reaching its peak so far this season, tying for #1 in the poll, Juniata slipped three spots to #4. The Eagles suffered a loss to CVC rival Southern Virginia, ending their nine match winning streak. The Eagles are now 17-2 on the season and totaled 517 points this week, including still receiving two first-place votes. They are back in action this weekend in a tri-match against Mount Union and Stevenson.
Southern Virginia comes in at #10 on the poll, one spot down from last week, with 354 points. Despite topping Juniata, the Knights suffered a set back the next day when they lost to Randolph-Macon. Southern Virginia is now 19-3 on the season and face Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.
Rutgers-Newark moved up one spot to #14 this week with 218 points. The Scarlet Raiders are 13-4 on the season and will be on the road against Wilkes this Saturday.
Carthage is the new top ranked team, moving up from #3 last week, and received 587 points. Messiah follows with 531 points with Springfield, who was tied for the top spot last week with Juniata, slipping to #3 with 528 points.
